About Us
Pravruti Collective is an independent, systems-led collective of experts working across environmental systems on policy and program implementation. We work with governments, multilateral institutions, investors, and mission-driven enterprises to shape and operationalise environmental policy in complex, multi-actor contexts. Our focus is on how regulation, markets, institutions, finance, and innovation interact in practice—and on designing and driving interventions that can move from concept to scale.
Pravruti Collective brings creative policy leadership with delivery in mind. We develop forward-looking policy frameworks, institutional and market architectures, and implementation models that are ambitious, but grounded in real-world constraints.
By combining rigorous systems analysis with hands-on implementation support, we help translate policy intent into investable mechanisms, operational programmes, and real-world demonstrations that catalyses broader system change.
Our Mission
Etymology
Derived from the Sanskrit root √vṛt (to turn, to be, to exist, to act), with the prefix pra- (forward, onward, into action), the word Pravruti literally means a turning towards action or engagement in a course of activity. Across Indian philosophical, cultural, and linguistic traditions, Pravruti has multiple shades of meaning:
Action, Activity, and Engagement
In classical Indian thought, Pravruti represents the path of participation in the world — engaging with society, nature, and governance to create change.
Inclination, Disposition, Natural Tendency
In philosophical texts, Pravruti often means an inherent inclination or drive towards a certain way of being or doing.
Right Action as Duty (Dharma in Motion)
In the Bhagavad Gita and other dharmic texts, Pravruti is linked to performing one’s rightful duties in the material world with integrity.
Initiative, Enterprise, and Bold Endeavour
In modern Indian languages like Hindi, Gujarati, and Marathi, Pravruti can mean initiative, enterprise, or a purposeful venture. It’s often used to describe a constructive activity or undertaking that benefits the community.
Dynamic Process and Evolution
In certain philosophical contexts, Pravruti also refers to the process of becoming— the evolution of something from idea to reality. It embodies the notion that the universe itself is in constant motion, and progress is a natural law.
